Sarah joined DCI’s marketing team in September 2011 after an impressive summer internship with the company. A proud Penn State alumna, Sarah graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism and minors in English and international studies. Sarah’s experience spans the media spectrum – from one ofNew York City’s top radio stations to a local online news site in State College,Pennsylvania.

Sarah’s Passion for Places

Not every eight-year-old girl chooses a trip to Ireland over a Disney vacation, but for Sarah the itch to travel abroad and experience other cultures came at a young age. It took only 10 days on her grandfather’s farm in Ireland to make her a life-long travel enthusiast. Sarah realized how exhilarating and fascinating it was to explore new places, so it wasn’t a surprise to her friends and family when she headed to Florence, Italy to study abroad in college where she volunteered as a tour guide, studied Italian and art, and travelled to other countries on the weekends.

Notable Results

  • Sarah assisted in securing media appointments with The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Newsweek, CNNMoney.com, and live interviews on CNN en Español and Univision for the El Paso Regional Economic Development Corporation (REDCo), as part of a New York City media tour with the Mayors of El Paso, Texas and its sister city, Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.
  • Sarah helped secure a number of U.S.correspondents for People’s Daily, Ta Kung Pao Daily, Le Monde, Austria Presse Agentur, among others to participate in an inbound press trip to the Charlotte,North Carolina region to showcase its diverse economy and strong concentration of foreign direct investment (FDI).
  • While interning with DCI’s Mondotel’s division, Sarah helped pitch Dubai and its luxurious places to dine, shop and visit to a reporter with Elite Traveler, which resulted in an 11-page feature for the client.

Known as the “event planner” among her friends, Sarah is always planning something for her friends and family. She likes to surround herself with the people closest to her and it doesn’t matter if she has to take a plane, train or bus to get there.

All it took was a social media position in college and Sarah was hooked on the idea of using different online platforms to learn more about the world around her. A big fan of exploring new places, Sarah turns to Twitter, Facebook and online blogs to locate the best restaurants, stores and activities each city has to offer. After work or on the weekend, you can find Sarah with her smart phone at her fingertips looking for the best places to go and check into when she arrives. It doesn’t matter if it’s a small side street in Hoboken, or a big city block in New York, Sarah believes every place has something worth seeing and tweeting about!

Growing Up in the Wrong Part of the State

Sarah grew up a big Yankees fan and as she got older she dreamt of living in the city. Since she grew up in South Jersey, just over the bridge fromPhiladelphia, most of her friends were raving about the Philly Cheesesteak while Sarah couldn’t wait to take a bite of the Big Apple. Now, working inNew York Cityand living inHoboken, Sarah feels right at home with fellow Yankees fans!

Sarah wasn’t voted “Most likely to a Host a Talk Show” in high school for nothing. For two years in college, Sarah co-hosted “The U,”PennStateUniversity’s version of ABC’s “The View.” Each Sunday, Sarah and three others sipped their coffee, interviewed influential people at the university and debated the hottest topics on- and off- campus.

9.5 Million Reasons to Smile

When Sarah looks back at her college experience, it wasn’t just the football games and friends that gave her a reason to smile. For four years, Sarah volunteered for the Penn State Dance Marathon, raising money for pediatric cancer. Commonly known as “THON,” it’s the largest student-run philanthropy in the world and Sarah was very involved serving as a communications captain. Sarah helped motivate and educate students on how to fundraise, and in just four and a half months, THON raised over $9.5 million for the Four Diamonds Fund atHersheyMedicalCenter. Sarah continues to volunteer for the organization and is exploring other non-profits in the New York/New Jersey area to support.
