Pam Balakian
Background
With almost 30 years of experience in the Hotel Sales & Marketing Industry, Pam joined Mondotels in 1987. She previously was employed by Scott Calder Intl, a hotel sales & marketing firm that specialized in marketing & sales of deluxe hotels worldwide. There she was in charge of marketing & selling deluxe hotels in the Caribbean, Bermuda and Europe to leading travel agencies and tour operators throughout the US. She holds a BA degree in American Studies from Skidmore College.
Pam’s Passion For Places
Her passion for travel began with her first trip to Italy with Dwight-Englewood School in her junior year in high school to Rome & Florence, where she savored the wonderful food in Tuscany and took in the historic sites of Rome & Florence. Other notable trips included: a trip with her family to Armenia(to trace her family heritage), including Moscow, Leningrad and Tiblisi in 1987. She has also travelled to Paris(more than a dozen times), London, Hong Kong, Bali, Greece, Jerusalem on vacations. Through business ventures, she travelled to, Madrid, Barcelona Lisbon, Paris, Nice, Cannes, Deauville, Melbourne and Dubai. She spent many winter holidays on the island of Tortola in the BVI’s with friends.
Notable Results
- Pam has developed an extensive Database of corporate meeting planners and incentive buyers in the US and Canada, creating new bids and many sold groups for various clients including: Nice, Lisbon, Madrid, Scotland, Melbourne and Dubai.
- As part of her support of Scotland’s sales efforts, Pam initiated a partnership program with Continental Airlines, through which she secured an allotment of complimentary tickets to Scotland, resulting in hosted visits by 10 US-based meetings buyers, and several bids on new business.
- Pam organized a Sales Mission to Scotland in November 2010, attended by 7 highly-qualified corporate, incentive and association buyers to Scotland, resulting in 3 proposals for Scottish products. Attendees commented that this was the most well-organized, professional site inspection in memory.

Pam can be found at play at her home on eastern Long Island in Southampton. Her passions are cooking, gardening, biking. The beach is a favorite spot, with the company of nieces and nephew. When Pam is not in Southampton, she spends time in NYC going to museums, galleries, theatre, movies and makes it a priority to discover and enjoy the latest restaurants.

Surprising Facts about Pam
Breast Cancer Advocate
Pam has spent her spare time fundraising for Breast Cancer. She is a volunteer for “SHARE”, a support group in NYC, counseling newly- diagnosed breast cancer patients. She has assisted in helping people find the right Doctors and treatment. Nothing gives her more satisfaction.
Sportade Invention
Pam assisted her parents in the production of the world’s 1ST Electrolyte Drink. (Yes, before Gatorade!) Pam’s father, an internist and sports enthusiast, conceived of “Sportade”, created it at home in Tenafly N.J. and introduced the new concoction as the official drink of the US Open.
Literary Legacy
Pam’s family roots are deeply artistic and literary. Her sister and two of her Aunts are professional writers, and one served as Book Review Editor for the New York Times for nearly 50 years. Her brother authored “Black Dog of Fate”, winning the Pen/Albrand Award. Over the years, Pam has enjoyed meeting a variety of interesting writers including Arthur Miller, Kurt Vonnegut, Eudora Welty and William Saroyan.
