Kara Steible

Background

Kara grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island; she earned her bachelor’s degree in travel and tourism management, and a concentration in event planning. With a love for traveling and new experiences, she tried on DCI in 2007, and it was a perfect fit.

 Kara’s Passion for Places

In the summer of 2000, at the age of 15, Kara caught the “traveling bug” when she left the country to visit China for the first time. Her two weeks spent in Asia were a premonition for what was to come. Since then, Kara has traveled all over the United States, has gone island hopping in the Caribbean, and even studied abroad in Australia and New Zealand.

Notable Results

  • As DCI’s Special Events Coordinator, Kara has executed 60+ media events for the company’s destination clients, securing coverage in acclaimed publications, such as Budget Travel and Condé Nast Traveler.
  • In January 2011, Kara collaborated with the Archaeological Institute of America, drawing 200 attendees to a presentation in San Francisco on the island’s convict heritage/archeological preservation.
  • Assisted with Vice President/Partner in proposal development,  adding fresh, new event concepts to reinforce clients’ branding and won bids to conduct various media events.

In her life outside Development Counsellors International, Kara is always adding destinations to her “Places to Visit” list.  Whether it’s a weekend getaway, or a week out of the country, Kara’s passion for traveling will never cease. She believes that if you’re open to learning something new each day, anything is possible.

Surprising Facts about Kara

Hip, Hip Hooray
When Kara was only 15 months old, she was diagnosed with a hip dysplasia that affected her ability to walk. Luckily, doctors performed surgery and were able to correct the problem. Now she walks tall at 5’7”.

Just Call Her Face
Kara, when spoken in Spanish, means “Face.”  The nickname just stuck.

Kara’s hobby is journal writing, and she plans to pursue a travel writing career in the future.
