Jordan Robinson

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.” Aristotle Jordan Robinson

Background

Since joining DCI’s economic development division in 2007, Jordan has led marketing campaigns for clients across the globe including New Zealand, Thailand, Puerto Rico, Charleston (S.C), Houston, Reno and Southwest Michigan. A graduate of Baylor University, Jordan brings with her a degree in public relations with a concentration on media relations and marketing communications.

Jordan’s Passion for Places

For the most part of her life, Jordan never believed she would ever leave the great state of Texas. That is, until educational opportunities brought her to Europe, allowing her to explore the other half of the world throughout France and Italy. Her excitement for international travel stole her away, yet again, in the summer of 2005 where she spent 4 months in living in Madrid with a local family and learning the Spanish language. So where is she now? Living in New York City. So much for staying in Texas!

Notable Results

  • To position the Kalamazoo region as Michigan’s “bright spot” during the economic downturn, Jordan coordinated a series of interviews, media tours, journalist visits and special events that led to media placements in the Wall Street Journal, The Economist, Fox News and CNBC as well as in a number of leading international and industry trade publications.
  • To promote Puerto Rico’s burgeoning life science and aerospace industries, Jordan arranged more than 25 interviews with influential media outlets for Puerto Rican officials attending key industry trade shows including BIO, AdvaMed and Farnborough International Airshow. In addition, Jordan led tours to Puerto Rico for industry trade press and site selection consultants to meet with government leaders and prominent companies located on the island.
  • On behalf of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, Jordan organized a press conference at the New York Foreign Press Center for Governor Ed Rendell to discuss Pittsburgh hosting the G-20 Summit. The event was attended by more than 30 high-level international journalists with articles appearing in The Economist and Financial Times.

Up Close

Of many things, Jordan loves: Meeting new people and making new friends. Laughing so hard she can barely breathe. Playing outside in the sun. Cooking macaroni & cheese because it’s hard to mess up. Hunting for celebrities on the streets of New York. Sunday afternoon naps. Mexican food and chicken fried steak. Monster energy drinks. Visiting her friends and family in Texas. Running at the track. Slow-pitch softball. Finding a good shopping deal. And of course, a good ole’ peppermint mocha from Starbucks!

Surprising Facts about Jordan

From Honky Tonk to City Slicker
You better believe that some people really do have a street address on what they call a “county road.” This New York City girl grew up in a small West Texas town with a population smaller than the number of people that ride the subway each morning. Now living in one of the largest cities in the world, but still a firm believer in the word “ya’ll,” Jordan remains a Texas girl at heart.

Isn’t It Ironic…Don’t You Think?
From jet skiing to water skiing. Whether it’s just a day on the lake or going out for her school’s water ski team, Jordan has always had a passion for the word “skiing.” Ever since her childhood, Jordan spent years perfecting her water sport skills, so much that she managed to forget one important thing: she never actually learned how to swim!

Dribble, Pass, Shoot, Score
The only thing that Jordan finds more addicting to watch than an episode of Grey’s Anatomy is NBA basketball. Jordan has developed, what some may call, an obsession with the Dallas Mavericks. Just ask her friends when they see her sitting in front of the TV whooping and hollering during every game. And no doubt she’ll be at any game the Mavs play in New York, proudly sporting her jersey in between all the Knicks fans!
