Amalia’s Passion for Places

Amalia comes by her “passion for places” quite naturally. When you combine her Greek and Ecuadorian heritage with her educational background – a bachelor of art’s degree in Latin American Studies and Political Science and a minor in Hellenic Studies from New York University – you discover a passionate and adventurous traveler. Being fluent in Spanish, Greek and conversational Portuguese comes in handy in her global explorations.

Notable Results

  • Amalia was instrumental in facilitating PromPeru’s North American strategic partnership program featuring twelve operators. This, combined with her trade education efforts, key special events and e-marketing campaigns, helped Peru increase visitor arrivals despite the worst economic climate since the Great Depression.
  • For the Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador, Amalia managed consumer and trade marketing communication strategy raising the destination’s profile and boosting visitor arrivals within one year.
  • By aggressively reintroducing LAN Airlines name back into key travel agencies with rejuvenated product offerings, Amalia increased sales by $500,000 within one year. She played a pivotal role in landing a $1.9 million account with Citigroup, coinciding with the growth of their Latin American division. Her strategic action plans aided in capturing corporate market share from American Airlines, Continental, Delta and United, and helped establish LAN as a premier air carrier.
