INTERES - Invest in Spain

"The numbers tell the story. DCI has arranged more than 50 face-to-face appointments with senior business executives with site selection responsibilities. To date, I am most pleased to say that 14 of these companies have announced investments in Spain"

INTERES Invest in Spain

The Challenge

Spain was often being overlooked as a location for business investment among its European Union neighbors, despite the country's offerings for research and development activities and a government active in promoting, strengthening and expanding companies within its borders. Invest in Spain was formed to raise the country's investment profile, demonstrate that it is a credible competitor within Europe and shed its image as a country whose economy was based on agriculture, wine and tourism.

The DCI Roadmap

• Use a predictive model to identify companies exhibiting behaviors that forecast a need for a site location change or expansion;

• Turn to DCI's Prospect Development/ Qualification (PDQ) team for a telephone outreach program to interview companies exhibiting behavior indicative of growth; identify those planning expansions into Europe within a two-year time frame;

• Schedule in-person appointments and teleconferencing opportunities with prospective investors to discuss how Invest in Spain may be able to assist in their company's location or expansion into a Spanish region.

The Results

•  DCI's PDQ team arranged dozens of face-to-face meetings and scheduled teleconferences with qualified prospects.

• DCI directed several investment seminars in New York City, such as roundtable luncheons with prospective investors and executives whose companies were already in Spain, to provide firsthand accounts and insight into doing business in the country.

•  From these activities, 14 U.S. corporations, including GE Plastics, Stryker Corporation, Coty and Dow Chemical, have now made investment commitments in Spain.
